“Hubb's Red Willow” is a Japanese Maple in the Acer Palmatum family. It is one of the best of the“strap leaf” types. The bamboo like leaves are large and long lobed on a vigerous plant and retain their deep burgundy color all summer as they hang on dark stems and shade large clusters of winged pink seed or “Samura”. Brooding burgundy leaves change to bright cherry red in fall. Enjoys good sun and may be 6-7' tall in ten years.
